Rumours were circulating that Alexander had made an enquiry for the 35-year-old striker, who is currently recovering from knee surgery, but the Imps boss insists this is not the case.

The rumours seem bizarre at this moment of time, especially considering Torpey is still out for two more months recovering from his injury.

Lincoln had also been wrongly linked with a loan swoop for Swindon striker Jamie Cureton.

Alexander told the Lincolnshire Echo: "We are in the market for a striker, but not those two.

"I am always looking to improve my squad, but, as yet, no-one has taken my fancy."

Meanwhile, the Imps have also been linked with a move for their former striker Simon Yeo.

The New Zealand Knights forward is unhappy and wants to return to England according to reports.
