Macclesfield dump Iron to 23rd

Keeping us off bottom
Macclesfield Town's 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers today moved them above Scunthorpe United, leaving only Boston United below us in the third divsion table.

Matthew Tipton and Chris Byrne scored the goals which earned the Silkmen their first win of the season and only added to the misery of those fans who attended yesterday's derby defeat.

And even that is a false reading - had the Pilgrims not been deducted four points for out of contract payment to players then they would have seven points, one more than us. We owe Boston manager Steve Evans a big thank you right now.

Yet when Steve Wharton replaced Waggy as chairman of SUFC last season he stated that he would not tolerate failure. We didn't make the playoffs and he tolerated it.

Only seven games have been played, but the top clubs already have more than double the amount of points we have. This is not good enough considering the talent Laws can put out representing our town.

Laws has always divided Iron fans, since we were relegated from the second division there have always been two bands of fans. One set pro and one set anti Laws.

After yesterday's performance only one band can be growing in size, and they're not going to be chanting `Brian Laws' Barmy Army` any time soon.
