Major signing to be announced

Iron manager Brian Laws has been locked in talks with an unamed duo over the past week, and although the club have not named who they areone is thought to be Ireland U21 international Cliff Byrne who had a succesful three month spell at Glanny Park on loan from Sunderland earlier in the season.

Laws held further talks with the players yesterday and will name his capture, thought to be Byrne, tomorrow morning.

United are still waiting to see how many of the players offered contracts to stay at the club will accept them, with full-backs Nathan Stanton and Lee Ridley the first to accept them.

Andy Dawson has agreed a move to Hull, while veteran winger Peter Beagrie must accept reduced terms if he is to stay at the club next season.

Ian Kilford, Martin Carruthers, Terry Barwick, Andy Parton and Andy Butler are all considering one year contract offers.
