All the best Pete - from all at Iron-Bru.net
As previously reported on Iron-Bru.net Pete has suffered terrible luck with his injury, and it just wouldn't heal.

After a meeting with a specialist surgeon this week he was given the bad news, realising his worst fears.

"He said he did not think I could get back to the standard of football I was playing before," confirmed Pete this weekend.

"He said that because of the severity of the injury - and because the bone actually came through the skin - he did not feel that I would be able to do things like running and stopping as quickly as I used to.

"I am gutted. I have known it has not been right for a long time but I thought that it would get better eventually.

"I don't think you ever prepare yourself for a result like this. I always thought I would come back from it."

Peter's wages are currently being paid by the PFA, and he has spoken to them about the prospect of legal action against Ben Chapman.

It was a challenge from Scunthorpe born Chapman in a reserve team game 15 months ago which resulted in the injury, a double compound fracture which saw the match abandoned and never replayed.

"I shall carry on getting treatment from the specialist and all I want now is to get back to normal as much as possible so I can do the everyday things in life without it hurting. I can't even do those at the moment," said Pete.

"It has been a very disappointing and frustrating time for me over the last 15 months.

"The recovery started well enough and everyone thought I would be back in no time, but things just started to go wrong.

"It is very frustrating watching everyone playing because even though I want the team to win, when you are not playing it is hard to just sit and watch.

"I have spoken to the PFA about the prospect of legal action only this week.

"They said to me that they are not keen on player vs player legal battles because they are not a good advert for the game.

"I am not sure what I am going to do about things next, I am still only just coming to terms with the fact I will never be a professional footballer again. For the minute I will just have to wait and see."
