United's first-choice goalkeeper Joe Murphy has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for the friendlies against Paraguay and Algeria.
Murphy joined up with his national team last week and played in a behind-closed-doors game against the Republic's U23 side.
He has remained with the team, with Republic coach Giovanni Trapattoni confirming six uncapped players in his squad - including the Ipswich Town keeper Brian Murphy, who will battle with Joe Murphy and Coventry City's Kieron Westwood to play in the games.
Keith Treacey, Keith Fahey, Paul Green, Greg Cunningham and Cillian Sheridan also made a senior squad for the first time although Treacy has had to pull out with a hamstring problem.
Ireland will take on Paraguay next Tuesday and Algeria on Friday, with both games taking taking place in Dublin.
Squad in full: Westwood (Coventry City), J Murphy (Scunthorpe United), B Murphy (Ipswich Town), Nolan (Sheffield Wednesday), Kelly (Fulham), McShane (Hull City), O'Shea (Manchester United), Cunningham (Manchester City), St Ledger (Preston North End), Foley (Wolves), O'Dea (Celtic), Duff (Fulham), Treacy (Preston North End), Whelan (Stoke City), Andrews (Blackburn Rovers), Lawrence (Stoke City), Fahey (Birmingham City), Green (Derby County), Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Doyle (Wolves), Best (Newcastle United), Long (Reading), Stokes (Hibernian), Sheridan (St Johnstone).
