The Scunthorpe United defender Eddie Nolan has been named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad to face Switzerland and Turkey next month.

Nolan, on loan at Glanford Park from Preston North End, will not miss any Iron matches as the Championship will be on an international break.

The first match will take place in Lugano on Friday Setepmber 3, it is a European Championship qualifier but the young Irish are bottom of Group 2 and have no chance of reaching the finals.

Noel King's side will then head to Kocaeli to complete their qualifying game against Turkey on Tuesday September 9.

The two games will be difficult for the Republic: Switzerland top the group on 17 points, having won five of their nine games, while Turkey are second with four wins from eight outings.
