Pardew: It was just banter with Horsfield

Horsfield inspired United to a 1-0 victory over the Addicks, with top scorer Martin Paterson scoring the only goal of the game.

"He is a committed player and I thought he did well for them, it was just banter with Geoff" he explained.

"I thought Scunthorpe were excellent for their manager."

Pardew was also quick to play down claims that right back Yassin Moutaouakil was at fault for the defeat suggesting his side should have won anyway.

"The goal came from a mistake, but the chances we had today shouldn't mean that we have a nil next to our name"

"But the game was separated by an error. He's held his hands up to the team afterwards. He missed his kick."
