Sharp set for Blades return

The 21-year-old is set to return to the club where he started his career after spending two seasons with the Iron, in which he found the target 56 times.

Sharp, who will pen a three-year contract, broke the record for goals in a season for Scunthorpe during the last campaign as his 32 strikes helped Nigel Adkins' side to the League One title.

The Bramall Lane club have beaten off competition from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, plus Norwich City and Wolves to sign the lifelong Blades fan.

Meanwhile, BBC Radio Humberside report midfielder Ross and winger Forte are poised to come to Glanford Park as part of the deal.

"We're just waiting to finalise everything," Blades chairman Terry Robinson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"There's a possibility that a couple of players could be going the other way as part of the deal.

"We made it known to Billy's representatives eight weeks ago that we would be interested in bringing him back here.

"Billy's glad to be back, he knows what we're about and we hope he'll score plenty of goals for us."

The Iron signed Sharp from United for £100,000 in August 2005, after he had made just two substitute appearances for the Blades.
