Forrester left United for FC Utrecht after helping United to promotion in the 1999 playoff final, saying that he wanted to try his luck at a higher level.

His time at Glanford Park was succesful goalwise, although he did provoke controversy when he likened Scunthorpe to a shed in an interview for mens magazine Loaded.

"I think Jamie Forrester should get a decent reception because he did well for us, " Laws told the official SUFC website today.

"We were disappointed he left but we can understand his reasons. He is a likeable lad, I enjoyed working with him and I wouldn't mind working with him again. He was my first signing and but for the rule changes we could have got a fee for him."
