The 24-year-old returned from a two-month lay-off with a knee injury during the 2-1 reserves defeat to Doncaster Rovers last Wednesday but the postponement of Monday's second string match at Darlington has ended his hopes of making a first team comeback against the Dons.

"Nathan will be involved in the squad," manager Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"And you should never say never, but Saturday's game might just come a bit early for Nathan."

As a result Richard Hinds is likely to switch to centre-back to replace the suspended Andy Crosby and will partner Steve Foster at the heart of the United defence.

Cliff Byrne looks set to come back into the side at right-back in an Iron defence that is also missing Andy Butler and Lee Ridley through long-term injury.
