Brownsword died at the age of 86 last Saturday. He made 597 Football League appearances for the Iron, a club record.

In response to Steve Wharton, the Iron chairman, asking for suggestions on how to pay tribute to Brownsword, we took suggestions from the Iron-Bru.net messageboard and offered users the chance to vote.

With 53.7 per cent of votes, the most popular option was to rename the stadium. Changing the name of one of the stands came second, with 19.5 per cent of the vote and the creation of a statue third with 12.2 per cent.

Renaming the restauraunt or Iron Bar collected 4.9 per cent, as did 'other' an option which could include renaming the entrance road to the ground.
