Faustino Asprilla was unveiled to Darlington fans this evening, and although he's not yet eligible to play his new team were inspired to a 2-0 victory over Carlisle United.

George Reynolds is obviously looking to bring in Asprilla to boost gate receipts at the club's new 25K stadium - and in a short term capacity at least it worked as 5163 paying spectators crammed into Feethams.

A second half brace from Glen Naylor inspired Darlo to defeat the Cumbrians, who would have risen to joint second had they secured all three points.

Bristol Rovers, who United face at Glanford Park on Saturday, earned their first win of the season by defeating Swansea City at the Memorial Ground.

Former Iron target Paul tait got himself on the scoresheet for Rovers, alongside Guiliano Graziolo and Vitaly Astafjievs. Ex-Iron David Moss got a consolation for the Welshmen, but they went down 3-1.

AFC Bournemouth hosted Oxford United, Derek Holmes netted just before half time while Steve Basham equalised just after the interval.
