The veteran targetman damaged his hamstring in the first-half of last week's 2-1 Carling Cup First Round win over Tranmere.

Iron boss Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I initially thought it may have been longer than that, but there is a 99 per cent chance of recovery which is good news for us."

It was originally thought that Torps would be out for the rest of the season but a specialist confirmed the injury wasn't as bad as first feared.

The club record signing had started five games so far this season and his strike partnership with Billy Sharp was beginning to look promising, but his injury has seen Sharp form an even more impressive partnership with fellow youngster Andy Keogh - with the young duo netting five times between them in three games.
