Local nightclub owner John Hayes has stated publically that he and a group of other businessmen with local connections wish to purchase shares in the club, and would almost certainly form part of a new boardroom.

However, although talks have been held with current chairman Steve Wharton the club insist that they have yet to receive a firm offer to take up the unallocated shares which are left over from a finance-creating share issue from last season.

Director John Godfrey however has confirmed today that the club need to know more information on the identities of the group before taking the negotiations any further.

If Hayes does seek a prominent position on the club's board he will faces divisions amongst fans, with a recent Iron-Bru.net poll suggesting that more than half of fans wouldn't want the controversial businessman as chairman of the club.
