Wharton considers position

Wharton took over the reigns from Keith Wagstaff two seasons ago after Wagstaff resigned following controversial comments about manager Brian Laws made to a fan in a letter.

Since then Wharton has successfully seen United through a testing time off the field following the collapse of ITV Digital and is likely to face pressure to stay on from the rest of the board with no obvious candidate to replace him.
