Wharton: I'd sell club tomorrow

He made the revealing comment during a fans forum on BBC Radio Humberside.

"I would sell the club tomorrow if it was in the best interests of Scunthorpe United," he said.

"Possibly we should advertise this fact, I'd like to think that if anyone did come in, they had the club's well being at heart and not give the club enough rope to hang itself.

"If they have sizeable sums to invest please tell them to come out of the woodwork and talk to us."

Wharton has previously held talks with local businessmen, rejecting an offer to buy out the club in May 2004. - a story first broken by Iron-Bru.net
The consortium was led by former FA compliance officer Graham Bean and also included former Iron director Des Comerford - with Bean telling this site at the time that Wharton dismissed the offer 'out of hand'.
