Wrexham - Beags the danger man

“Carruthers has scored goals wherever he’s been and the lad Wheatcroft is a very useful player they got from Bolton," he told the Wrexham Evening Leader today.

“Given the sort of service I know Beagrie can deliver, these two will cause problems - if they’re allowed to.

"What we have got to do is cut off the supply and hope Beagrie doesn’t start somersaulting all over the place.”

Beags has cut down on his extravagent goal celebrations, so there's a good chance Smith won't be seeing him somersaulting all over the place even if he scores a hat-trick.

Paul Wheatcroft scored four times in the pre-season campaign, and will debut in tomorrow's match.

Probable side: Evans, Dawson, Jackson, McCombe, Stanton, Beagrie, Calvo-Garcia, Graves, Sparrow, Carruthers, Wheatcroft.

Steve Torpey begins the season suspended, while Andy Parton misses the opening couple of weeks through injury - he seemed destined to feature more prominently this season after an impressive pre-season.

Youth team goalkeeper Neil Collins has been handed a squad number ahead of tomorrow's game, as Brian Laws failed to bring in a 'keeper on cover in time. The club however haven't announced which number he has been handed.
