Booth, who rejoined the Terriers from Sheffield Wednesday in 2001, is now tied to the club until 2006 and is likely to end his career with the club.

Manager Peter Jackson said: "It's terrific because it helps the club and it settles Andy because his contract was up next summer.

"He has shown a massive commitment to the club by signing this deal.

"I am not going to go into details, as that would not be right, but I can tell you he has taken a massive cut in his wages and will probably see out his career at Huddersfield Town."

Booth has netted 21 times in 80 appearances since returning to the club.
