Todd, who immediately cancelled the loan, fumed: "It's no way to treat a young player.
"He played one game when their centre-half was out and then found himself on the bench and that's no use - I sent him to play not sit on the bench.
"We sent a team there for a pre-season friendly and they did very well out of it, so I had no hesitation in putting the boy first. We think very highly of him.
"I've got to take care of my younger players and won't let this happen. I've spoken to their chairman since and explained why I was so unhappy with the situation. They wanted him back, but I said no. It was disappointing."
