Bristol City draw up manager shortlist

Robins chairman Steve Lansdowne finalised his top five targets to replace Brian Tinnion over the weekend, and has already met with Lawrence.

He said: "All I can say is that Lennie Lawrence is in the frame.

I met with him last week because he was on his way back from being interviewed for the Plymouth job.

"He is one that we are considering but no decision has been made yet. Over the weekend we have focused on the four or five applicants that we felt we ought to approach to see if they would be interested in the position.

"These names will not be disclosed and we will not be commenting on any speculation, either in the press or amongst supporters, regarding the identities of the candidates concerned.

"We hope to meet with all the people on the shortlist over the next few days and be in a position to know who our prime candidate is by the end of the week.

"We then hope to make an appointment as soon as we can, possibly making an announcement next week - although this timeline could depend on other factors."
