Cardiff stadium given go-ahead

The Welsh side are spending £58million on the project in the Leckwith area of the city, which will also include a retail park and a leisure centre.

"Any money that has been raised for the stadium has not been diverted from Dave Jones' transfer pot,' insisted Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale.

"I want to make it clear this stadium scheme will not affect the manager's ability to attract the players that he has asked me to pursue."

The stadium is scheduled to open in 2009, with construction set to start in February.
