Courtenay was sentenced to 150 hours of community service after being found guilty of threatening behavior during Carlisle's Third Division game against Lincoln at Sincil bank in August 2002.

Carlisle forward Richie Foran, who has previous convictions for violence in irland, was also sentenced to 200 hours of community service.

The charges relate to an incident in the directors box after Lincoln had missed a penalty to hand eight-man Carlisle an unlikley 1-0 victory.

Judge John Friel said he was `frankly stunned` by the incident, while commenting that Foran `appeared to enjoy violence`.

The Football Association has confirmed that it will contact Lincolnshire Police and could hold an inquiry into the incident.
