Carlisle plan ground improvements

At a six-hour board meeting this week plans were discussed, which will eventually see away fans housed in the currently derelict Waterworks End (the terrace to the right of the East Stand, where visiting fans currently go).

In a statement for Carlisle's official website Courtenay said: "From our point of view we would like to cut out all the messing about in the East Stand. We the would not have to block out rows of deats and would eliminate the constant vitriol and carrying on between the two sets of supporters.

"I believe, and the board agree, that more people would use the East Stand if the uncomfortable overtones were removed. By housing the away fans in the Waterworks End that will be achieved."

The pitch will also need to be moved as part of the process, and the Warwick Road terrace will also be moved.

Conference facilities will also be created, while the club have submitted plans to turn the club shop into a pub and the former Spar shop into a Fish and Chip shop.

Work on the waterwoks terrace will begin in September, with the rest of the refurbishment work beginning at the end of the season.
