Boston United 1-1 Scunthorpe United (attendance: 3,154)
Lee Beevers had headed the home side in front, but Mark Greaves gave away a penalty just before half time which Kevin Sharp converted to equalise. Scunthorpe dominated, and Pilgrims keeper Paul Bastock had to save on a number of occasions from Steve McLean to earn Neil Thompson's side a point.

Bristol Rovers 1-0 Kidderminster Harriers (attendance: 6,791)
Rovers midfielder Lee Hodges came off the bench and scored seven minutes later to snatch a 1-0 win 20 minutes from time in front of the day's biggest crowd. The Pirates move up to fifth, just three points off the top.

Bury 2-1 Huddersfield Town (attendance: 4,591)
Danny Swailes (24th minute) had given Bury a first half lead, but Paul Scott (72) headed the equaliser for Huddersfield from a corner. Town defender Efe Sodje was then sent off before Bury regained the lead seven minutes from time through substitute Lee Connell who scored with his first touch.

Darlington 2-0 Carlisle United (attendance: 5,889)
Two Barry Conlon headers early in the game were enough for Darlington to win this encounter at the George Reynolds Arena. Managerless Carlisle stay bottom without a win yet this season. The Quakers' win was marred slightly by the sending off of Gary Pearson in the closing stages for a second yellow.

Mansfield Town 3-2 Macclesfield Town (attendance: 4,209)
Dave Artell (7) gave Mansfield an early lead with a header, but Matthew Tipton (14) hit back with a long-range equaliser soon later. John Miles (38) put the visitors ahead at half time, but after Junior Mendes (52) headed home a leveller, Liam Lawrence won it with a 69th minute penalty.

Oxford United 2-0 Southend United (attendance: 5,567)
Their third home win from three sees Oxford back at the top of the table. Forward Steve Basham shot them in front with 26 minutes on the clock, and a Paul Wanless goal from just outside the area doubled their lead just after half time. Andy Woodman ensured they got the three points with a safe performance in the Oxford goal.

Torquay United 2-1 Leyton Orient (attendance: 2,362)
The majority of this match was played 10 against 10, with Torquay captain David Taylor and Orient forward Gary Alexander both seeing red after 10 minutes following a brawl. The next action of note came in the second half when David Graham was brought off the bench in the 50th minute. He struck twice (54 & 73) to give Torquay the win. Tom Newey pulled one back for the O's towards the end, but they were reduced to nine men in stoppage time when Matt Lockwood pushed Tony Bedeau and was sent off by referee Mr Pentwood.

Yeovil Town 2-0 Swansea City (attendance: 6,655)
Swansea were knocked off top spot by Yeovil in front of a bumper crowd at Huish Park. Goals either side of half time by Adam Stansfield (39) and Kirk Jackson (55) won it for Town, who return to the top half of the table.

York City 1-2 Rochdale (attendance: 3,982)
Michael Simpkins crossed for Kevin Townson in the 15th minute for Rochdale's first, then Leo Burtos volleyed in another Simpkins cross four minutes later to put the visitors 2-0 up. Both sides had a player sent off with 20 minutes to go, with Stuart Wise and Paul O'Connor dismissed for their involvement in a fracas. York then got a lifeline from Arron Wilford, but Dale held on for three points.

Two games were played last night, here is what happened:

Cambridge United 0-0 Lincoln City (attendance: 4,458)
Cambridge have now failed to score in their last three matches and came no closer to breaking that run last night. Lincoln's Gary Fletcher had the best chance but missed from close range midway through the first half. Good defensive work by both sides made sure that this one resulted in a stalemate at the Abbey Stadium.

Cheltenham Town 4-3 Northampton Town (attendance: 5,002)
Fans at Whaddon Road certainly got value for their money in this seven-goal thriller. After scoring against Doncaster last week, Lawrie Dudfield got another two to his name to put the visitors 2-0 up at half time.

Bob Taylor scored his third since signing for Cheltenham 10 minutes into the second half, but Martin Smith restored the Cobblers' two-goal advantage with a penalty in the 73rd minute. 3 minutes later, Cheltenham were awarded a penalty which Richard Forsythe despatched to pull it back to 3-2.

The home side were given another penalty in the last minute, and after being ordered to retake his kick, Forsythe duly beat Glyn Thompson again to level. Then in the 3rd minute of stoppage time, Martin Devaney popped up with a late sucker punch for Northampton as the Robins claimed the three points. The four goals mean they are the division's leading scorers this season with 16, but 14 in the 'against' column is also the highest in the table.
