Cheltenham set sights on quick return

The Robins' fate was finally sealed when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Carlisle United on Saturday.

Allen has been pleased with his side's form in the last few weeks, as the Robins have lost just once in their last 10 outings.

"I'm confident and excited and I just wish the season wasn't finishing. With three or four more players that will join in the summer we're going to have a decent little team," he said.

"There's some players here that I want to get tied up and that's the most important challenge in my mind at the moment."

The former Iron left-back Lee Ridley has been one of few positives for the Robins this season, despite finding himself transfer-listed earlier in the season as Allen sought to free up space for new arrivals.

"I'm hurt that we have been relegated, but I have seen the development of these players characters which have grown," added Allen.

"The goalkeeper Scott Brown, David Bird, Andy Gallinagh, Paul Connor and Lee Ridley have all stepped out of the shadows. I'm very proud of them."
