The Blundell Park club, who are trying to raise £750,000 to pay an outstanding tax bill and keep the club afloat, lost at home to fellow strugglers Shrewsbury at the weekend - promting speculation that Slade's tenure as boss might be drawing to a close.

The Cod players had to put up with a barrage of boos from the home support throughout the game.

But Fenty issued a dread vote of confidence to under-fire Slade.

He said: "It's wrong to speculate on his position when the media can't talk accurately about his contract.

"The board are 110 per cent behind the manager and while I appreciate the football is not going right at the minute, I feel we are so close to winning."
