Scally said: "Ronnie Jepson has been top class and he is the man for me in the short term.

"If he does a good job and is happy he will be the man for the long term. I don't want to go down the road of seeing managers.

"I have had all sorts of people on to me, there are some top quality people out there, but I think Ronnie Jepson is top quality and he is the man I am putting my money on right now.

"He has earned the right to have a go at being a manager, so I think it is only right we give him a chance and see what he can do."

The news comes as no surprise, as with the club in financial strife and the need for further cutbacks in order to stabilise the club's finances an appointment from within was always on the cards.
