Halifax Town to sack players

The South Yorkshire outfit have been relegated back to the Nationwide Conference, and have a £400K debt hanging around their neck.

"I have the right to dismiss people within 14 days of taking charge and I will be doing that," explained administrator Peter O'Hara.

"We are meeting the PFA and the players and I will be sitting down again with the players after the final game of the season.

"There seems little point in paying players through the summer, then seeing them leave in August.

"I have to cut costs radically and I don't want to saddle someone coming into the club as owner or manager with players he doesn't want."

Some of the players sacked next week could end up returning in the summer, whislt it is unlikley to effect former United defender/midfielder Paul Harsley who has won a series of plaudits for his performances down the right or the doomed club.
