Former Hull City boss Parkinson, currently assistant manager at Charlton, was due to be unveiled as new Terriers boss on Wednesday but made a late u-turn.

"Given these events we think it's now sensible for the board to pause for breath over the Easter break," insisted Davy.

"There are no time pressures at this end. Gerry Murphy will continue to take charge of the first team for our Easter weekend fixtures."

Parkinson was one of six men on a shortlist of candidates to replace Peter Jackson, who was sacked in March.
