Huddersfield wait on boss decision

Former Barnsley boss Ritchie is widely tipped to take over at the Galpharm Stadium, where Gerry Murphy has been in caretaker charge since Peter Jackson was sackled.

But chairman Ken Davy has refused to confirm who will be sat in the dugout this Saturday, when a Scunthorpe win would seal a memorable promotion to the Championship.

"All recent stories have been entirely speculative, both as to who has been interviewed from the shortlist and any other guesses," insisted Davy.

"Murphy has been doing a very good job in his role as caretaker, but I'm not making any further comment."

Last week Phil Parkinson turned down the chance to manage the Terriers, changing his mind at the last minute after agreeing to leave his position as Charlton Athletic assistant.
