Hull climbed out of the Championship relegation zone on Friday night with a 2-0 win at Preston North End, increasing the pressure on the home manager Darren Ferguson.
Richard Garcia's diving header gave the Tigers the lead before the break, and a goal from Nicky Barmby in the closing stages wrapped up the win.
The victory moved Hull onto 18 points and 19th place in the table, although they could drop back into the bottom three if results go against them on Saturday.
Preston remain second-bottom, and will drop to bottom if Crystal Palace avoid defeat at home to Coventry City.
