Iron 19th as QPR go top again

The Iron are three points clear of the relegation zone, with Middlesbrough dropping into the relegation zone after their 1-0 home loss to Millwall.

Preston North End are bottom, and are now five points adrift after a 3-1 defeat at the league leaders Queens Park Rangers.

Hull City boosted their hopes of survival with a 1-0 home win over Ipswich Town thanks to a late goal from Robert Koren.

Sheffield United pulled away from the relegation zone with two late goals to seal a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace at Bramall Lane.

Bristol City climbed out of the bottom three with a 2-0 home victory over Leicester City, with the keeper David James saving a penalty.

QPR's win over Preston was enough to move them back to the top of the table, as Cardiff City were beaten 2-0 at home by Nottingham Forest.

A late goal from Angel Rangel secured a 1-1 draw for Swansea City at Doncaster Rovers, allowing them to narrow the gap to Welsh rivals Cardiff to three points.

Derby County are now fourth with their win over the Iron, while Leeds are fifth after a 1-1 draw with Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Barnsley beat Portsmouth 1-0 thanks to Adam Hammill's strike, while Watford were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Reading.

Kevin Doyle gave Coventry City a 1-0 win over Burnley at the Ricoh Arena.
