Scunthorpe lost out after Delroy Facey hit a late winner for the Wirral outfit.

Huddersfield missed out on the chance to keep up with pacesetters Swansea, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Yorkshire neighbours Bradford.

The Swans were also boosted by Southend's 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which leaves the Shrimpers third.

They fell behind to an own goal from Jamal Campbell-Ryce after 51 minutes, and Forest sealed the win with a Nicky Southall strike.

Paul Hall fired a hat-trick as Chesterfield ran out 4-2 winners at struggling Bristol City, despite Luke Wilkshire putting the Robins ahead after five minutes.

Kevan Hurst was also on target for the Spireites, with David Cotterill getting City's late consolation.

Chris Porter also claimed a match ball, this time for Oldham as they drew 3-3 with Brentford.

Darren Pratley, DJ Campbell and Lloyd Owusu were on target for the Bees.

Chelsea defender Steve Watt got an equaliser for Barnsley, where he is on loan, four minutes into second-half stoppage time against Rotherham.

The Millers had looked like holding on for an incredible win, despite ending the match with three players red carded.

Shaun Barker had put them ahead after 31 minutes, but Deon Burton was red carded after 56 minutes and Lee Williamson followed him to the changing rooms 10 minutes into the second-half.

And after Watt's equaliser, Colin Murdock was sent off to see Rotherham end the match with just eight men on the pitch.

Swindon remain rooted to the foot of the table despite earning a 1-1 draw at Port Vale.

The Robins took the lead through Hameur Bouazza, but Michael Husbands levelled for Vale three minutes from time.

Paul Shields hit the only goal of the game to earn Gillingham a 1-0 win over Hartlepool, moving the Kent side out of the relegation zone.

MK Dons were 2-1 victors over Walsall  thanks to goals from Izale McLeod and Aaron Wilbraham, Eric Skora netted for the Saddlers.

Doncaster beat Bournemouth 4-2, with Blackpool continuing their revival with a 3-2 win over Colchester at Bloomfield Road.
