Iron point away from promotion

As it stands, Yeovil are top of the table by a point from United. Southend are just behind in third, with Swansea fourth.

Yeovil appear favourites for the title - but could just as easily drop out of the automatic promotion positions altogether if they lose Lincoln on Saturday - and Scunthorpe avoid defeat, and Southend and Swansea both win.

The Glovers kept their spot at the top of the table thanks to a 1-0 win over fellow title-chasers Southend, with Phil Jevons firing the 83rd minute winner.

United's 4-0 demolition of Bristol Rovers saw them move back up to second - while Adrian Forbes struck the only goal after eight minutes as Swansea beat Shrewsbury at the Vetch Field.

Macclesfield's hopes of reaching the top three were put out by Cheltenham, who thrashed them 3-0 at Whaddon Road.

Lincoln's outside chance of closing the gap also came to an end after they were held to a goalless draw at home by Darlington.

That point allowed Northampton - 2-0 winners over Chester thanks to a brace from Andy Kirk - to move up into the final play-off position.

Kidderminster's relegation back down to the Conference was confirmed with a 4-1 home drubbing by the Cods.

That result leaves Rushden and Diamonds safe, despite their 1-0 loss at home to already relegated Cambridge.

Mansfield beat Boston 3-2, Notts County fell to a 1-0 defeat at home against Bury, Rochdale crush Oxford 5-1 and Wycombe edged past Leyton Orient 3-2.
