The Sincil Bank outfit counsulted outside solicitors and accountants after making the choice, triggered by a threat from Powergen that their electricity would be cut off if they failed to pay a £10K bill.

"Clearly this is a difficult time for the club but the board feel that this is the only way forward in the light of the financial difficulties that have been brought to a head by the demise of ITV Digital," said Imps chairman Rob Bradley yesterday.

"The Board urges all fans in the business community to rally round to help the club to prevent its demise at this time of crisis."

Supporters of the club are planning a march this Saturday to show the people of the City how much the club means to them, and to encourage more people to get down to their ground - and sample the delights of that annoying air raid siren on the odd occasion they win a corner!
