McAllister, 45, will be Gerard Houllier's assistant at Villa Park, while Gordon Cowans will work as the club's first-team coach.
McAllister has been working as Boro's first-team coach since May. Houllier has turned to McAllister after other former Liverpool players Phil Thompson and Dietmar Hamann turned down the chance to work with him at Villa.
