The Football League's oldest outfield player has made over 200 appearances for the Latics and scored 44 goals, including Saturday's in the 1-1 draw against the Iron.

Eyres has played over 800 games during his career, encompassing spells at Preston and Burnley, and he is hopeful of securing a deal at another club as is keen to carry on playing.

"He has been a terrific servant and we all wish him well for the future,"said boss Ronnie Moore.
