Eagles boss Neil Warnock was angered enough to immediately fine the 31-year-old and tell him he has no future at the club.
Kuqi had only just returned to Selhurst Park after a loan spell at Premier League side Fulham.
"He has apologised to me and the fans - after the horse has bolted," said Warnock.
"I will be transfer-listing him immediately. I don't accept things like that, so that is the end of the matter.
"I have told him that I realise he was disappointed, it is not nice at times, but you cannot go off like that."
