Port Vale claim interest in Paynter

Plymouth have already made a bid for Paynter, as well as Sam Collins, which Vale rejected.

Argyle manager Tony Pulis has ruled out getting into a 'bidding war' for the players, with Vale claiming other clubs - reportedly Crewe Alexandra and Crystal Palace - are interested in Paynter.

Bratt said: "There is another club that have expressed an interest

"They have only divulged their interest and not put in a firm bid at the moment.

"However, I expect there will be one or two more clubs expressing their interest soon, as that tends to happen when another club does."

Vale boss Martin Foyle has hit out at Vale fans who booed Paynter after last weekend's game against Bradford.

He blasted: "If I am trying to keep a player at the club and he is getting booed, will he sign a contract for Port Vale? This is what these supporters need to ask themselves.

"Billy is Port Vale through and through and has been at the club since he was 12. He's a hard-working member of the team and always willing to do his part."
