They recorded an impressive 3-0 victory at Coventry to replace the Sky Blues in the top spot.

"It is very, very satisfying to be top ," said Johnson, whose side were promoted as League One runners-up - behind champions Scunthorpe - in the summer.

"The start to the season couldn't have gone any better. You can't get any better than being unbeaten.

"I am not surprised and the boys are not surprised. We have not come into the Championship saying we're going to beat everyone and we're going to get in the Premier League.

"All you can do is work like we have done and trust in ourselves. We believe we can compete at this level."
