The winger has been on-loan at Roots Hall for the past three months, with the deal expected to be made permanent when the transfer window opened earlier this month.

But the move has not gone through, and the Yorkshire side are unhappy that Southend appear to be trying to knock the price down from the £117,000 originally agreed.

Ruchniewicz said: "We are not happy about the whole situation and have asked the Football League to investigate the matter.

"We are clear on the terms of the deal which allowed Jamal to join Southend when he did.

"We are very disappointed that Southend now appear unwilling to honour that deal and have asked the Football League to carry out a full investigation into the transfer."
