"We're looking to bring in new blood in defence in time for Saturday and we'll continue trying to do that," he said.
"We've spoken to a Premiership club and we're hoping to get a player in. We need experienced lads and hopefully we can get that one done.
"We've looked at Mettomo too but nothing has been done and he certainly wouldn't be ready for Saturday. But fingers crossed we can bring someone in.
"Defensively we've got to be stronger. If you don't defend solidly then you're going to drop points.
"Colchester made it difficult for us but we worked hard and got in front but we can't afford to give the lead away like we did tonight."
