The home side were calling for the manager's head as Southend earned their third successive league victory through goals from Adam Barrett and sub Wayne Gray.

Swindon rallied and got a late goal back through Rory Fallon ,but it was too little to late as the home side were booed off.

King said: "You heard the fans again and the chants towards me, and it's not a nice situation. But that's the way it is and I am going to have to take it.

"At the moment we keep making mountains for ourselves to climb, at the end of the day it was down to some awful defending and it is not acceptable."

Swindon found themselves a goal down after just 70 seconds when they were caught napping as Barrett headed in a Kevin Maher free-kick.

King added: "We can not keep conceding goals like that as it always makes it difficult for us to play catch-up.

"We were all over the place the players were not doing their jobs in the first two minutes."
