They have a shortlist of three candidates, two of which are currently managing sides in the division.
A club statement read: "A formal offer has not been made by Tranmere to any candidate so far and it expected that the appointment will not be made for a few more days although the club is very pleased with the calibre of candidates under consideration.
"Formal approaches have been made to two clubs and the process has involved discussions with the other clubs and their advisers as well as the candidates."
