Scott Loach, the Watford goalkeeper, has been added to the senior England squad for the European Championship qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday night.
Loach, 22, is a replacement for the West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson who will miss the match due to a family bereavement.
He flew back to London on Thursday, having been part of Stuart Pearce's side that travelled to Portugal to Wednesday ahead of their vital European Championship qualifer.
Joe Hart is expected to start the match at Wembley, with Loach providing cover alongside Birmingham City's Ben Foster.
Derby County say they will sign Chris Wood on loan from West Bromwich Albion next week.
The Rams said the New Zealand international, 18, was due to join them this week but a move was delayed as the Premier League side suffered injuries to Ishmael Miller and Roman Bednar. Football League clubs can sign players on loan from Wednesday.
Wood will be asked to replace Rob Hulse, who was sold to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.
Hogan Ephraim has signed a contract extension with QPR, keeping him at Loftus Road until the summer of 2012.
