26-year-old Dalglish, son of Kenny, scored three times for the club while on loan from second division Blackpool, but had hoped to move to an American club this summer.

That move fell through, and after a trial with Scottish Premier Division side Hibernians has agreed a one-year deal at Linfield.

Windsor Park boss David Jeffrey said: "I am delighted Paul has signed. He is a quality player, with great technical ability - and he has the experience of playing in the English Premiership.

He will train in England three days a week, before joining up with his new team-mates from Thursday.
