The defender, 21, has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues since joining them from Leeds in July 2009 and is now set to rack up his sixth loan spell away from Stamford Bridge.
He is poised to sign for the Blues, managed by former Huddersfield boss Lee Clark, until January.
He was at Glanford Park from January till May 2011, but has also been to Tranmere, Peterborough and Kilmarnock (two spells).
