Kell broke his leg while playing for Scunthorpe in the penultimate game of last season, but still joined the Yorkshire club on a Bosman transfer this summer.

The 25-year-old took two years to recover fully from a previous leg break while playing for the Iron, but it appears his rehabilitation is going smoother this time.

Ritchie said: "Richard's just getting on with it, working hard in his rehabilitation and there's not much else he can do.

"It's going ok so far and the specialist is very happy with his progress.

"We've not set a date, or a target as such, but hopefully Richard will be ready some time in September."
