Evans had been on trial at Kit-Kat Crescent having been released by the Iron in the summer.

The Doncaster-born keeper spent nine years in North Lincolnshire after joining from Crystal Palace.

He made his debut in the 5-0 Coca-Cola Cup loss at Premiership side Everton in October 1997.

By the time he left the club, he had made 293 first-team appearances. His Iron career drew to a close with the 1-1 draw at Oldham in May.
