Tykes in profile
Established: 1887
Nickname: The Tykes
Historical achievements:  The Tykes were regulars in Division Two in the early years of the Football League. Despite failing to reach the top division they lost the 1910 FA Cup final to Newcastle United in a replay, but won the trophy two years later with a final win over West Bromwich Albion. With the League eventually expanding to 92 clubs, the Tykes found themselves sliding down the divisions. They eventually reached the top tier of English football for the first time in 1997, but were relegated after one season. Financial problems brought a drop to what is now League One and administration in 2002. Since 2006 the club have been in the Championship.
